Covington - Welcome to Covington-Newton County!
We are located in the Historic Downtown District at 2101 Clark Street. Our Chamber of Commerce has been serving the Newton County area for more than 50 years!
At the Chamber we are dedicated to providing our community, our visitors, and our members with the most current information available whether you are on our website or stopping by.
The Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce is a full-service chamber providing Economic Development, Tourism, and chamber services. Funded by membership investments, the Chamber works for a healthy economic climate that includes good jobs, capital creation, and honest efficient government. The Chamber's strength lies in the number and diversity of its membership.
The Newton County Courthouse (pictured) was built in 1884 in downtown Covington. The courthouse is one of only five in the state built in the Second Empire style, which was inspired by the architecture of France under Napoleon III and features a mansard roof. The courthouse has been used in many movies and TV series, such as "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "In the Heat of the Night".
